Facetime Download for Mac Os X 10.6 8 Updated
Facetime Download for Mac Os X 10.6 8
Been going around on this for a couple hours. Downloaded version 1.0.5 for 99¢ from Apple tree on my 17" MBP that is 10.half dozen.viii.
I can sign in to the App store. Just I cannot sign in to Facetime. Keeps giving me an mistake in processing to the server no matter what credentials I use.
I've made sure that my clock is set to automatic. I can notice no certificate that is named anything like what multiple support pages say. I take edited my hosts file slightly.
Is this a red herring? Does Apple sell this but not allow Snow Leopard to use Facetime? I'd rather know that now than continue trying to go this to piece of work.
Anyone got whatever ideas?
The API FaceTime uses changed since ten.6.8, so older FaceTime tin't connect any more. Neither can an iPhone 4 running older iOSes.
It may not exist the case and I'm not certain if it nevertheless works, but to connect some older devices/apps to an Apple ID using 2 step or 2 factor authentication, yous would try appending the unique 6 digit code to the end of your password.

It use to work less than a twelvemonth a go, but mine no longer works on 10.6 & x.7, so you aren't lone. I got my .99 cents worth for the last few years, so i tin't complain really. Wish it still worked however.
Thanks

Did you lot try the option of an app-specific password, when you try to log into your account within FaceTime?
Using app-specific passwords
App-specific passwords let you to sign in to your account securely when you use tertiary-party apps with your Apple ID.

I actually made a new Apple tree ID with 2FA left off. I'd effort turning it on and giving information technology an app-specific countersign but based on the above I incertitude it will work.

If an app is non compatible with a version of the Os and so Apple doesn't generally let y'all download it.
I was able to download it after paying 99¢. It just does not connect.

Information technology may not be the case and I'm not sure if it all the same works, simply to connect some older devices/apps to an Apple tree ID using ii footstep or two factor authentication, you would try appending the unique 6 digit code to the stop of your password.
Aye, it just isn't able to login and so trigger the organisation to give me a lawmaking.

FaceTime has never worked for me in ten.six.8, from when it outset came to the App Store.
Cheers

Thanks! Apple got a free dollar from me, LOL.
Could you not inquire for a refund (information technology'southward but $0.99 but still...) every bit the "app" has become useless?
I could. I but don't know if information technology's worth the try.
In principle, you should get that dollar back. Every bit is the case many a fourth dimension, Apple sold you (and continue to sell) something they know does not piece of work, in this instance with 10.six.
On the flipside, if they did not know FaceTime for ten.vi has problems, then people need to start demanding their money back, because equally a event, they'll be forced to accept a 2d look at what might be so wrong with their app, and hopefully either fix it or pull information technology from availability.
Or they'll do something stupid like cut off Snow Leopard access to the App Store.
If eyoungren really wanted their dollar back I'd say get for information technology, but I don't think they should feel obligated to brand a point either. That could get either mode.
